Winter Solstice

A couple of days ago, we had Winter Solstice in Australia (June 21st) – giving us the shortest day and longest night of the year. In Perth, we still get about 10h of sunlight every day, which is not too bad :-)

‘Day’ is the time of the Yang, energy, and growth. The night belongs to Yin, it’s the nurturing and calming time. In nature, animals and plants instinctively follow the rules of seasonal changes with lowering their levels of activity/ dropping leaves.

While we may miss the sun and the warmth, these days can be an opportunity to recharge, slow down, relax. Rediscover the beauty of sitting down with a cup of hot tea (without any social media devices ..) and just listen to the rain outside or admire the different, more diffuse light of the Winter sun.
