Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS is a motility disorder of the small and large intestine that can cause:

  • abdominal pain

  • diarrhea or constipation

  • bloating

  • flatulence

  • nausea

  • headache

  • depression

  • tiredness and more.

Typically, IBS gets worse with increased stress, certain foods/ medicine or hormones.

Chinese Medicine/ Acupuncture interprets IBS as an energetic imbalance between the Liver and Spleen acupuncture channel. Like on a scale, too much energy in one organ creates a deficiency in the other, causing the symptoms mentioned above.

Acupuncture and herbal treatments include balancing the organ systems, removing blockages and tonifying deficiencies.
