Chronic Cough

Chronic cough can present as anything from a barely there, dry, tickly, scratchy cough to that phlegmy productive cough that vibrates through your whole body.

In Chinese medicine, anything chronic always includes a deficiency aspect. The body is constantly taxed, trying to get rid of a stuck pathogen. After a while, the Qi (main body energy) gets exhausted, affecting Qi & Blood, and after a while, Yin and Yang.

What to do?

If Phlegm is present, it will have to addressed with herbs. Then, acupuncture and herbs focus on building up the Wei-Qi (defensive Qi) and introduce Fluids in the form of Yin and Blood to remove dryness.
